I had a great time today with Judy, Lib, Calvin and Trevor - We headed up to the Blue Hills for a day of hiking and caching Southwest of Boston. I discovered the Blue Hills while looking for new spots to spend the day caching and have loved every trip I've made to the area.

The day started with breakfast at IHop with Jill and Lucy (who didn't join us) and Lib and Judy before we headed off Cape. The ride up was amazingly smooth and we never hit too much traffic making for a swift hour drive up to the pre-arranged parking area. Trevor had gotten there earlier than expected and was doing a bit of caching, even though it sounded like he was having a tough time at it :p - He had almost DNFd a cache that I had found a 'mere' two years ago - I guess I wasn't the best phone-a-friend for that one (never fear, he ended up finding it ok ).

Everyone finally met up at the Chickatawbut Overlook and after cookies were presented, glasses were remembered and backpacks were rearranged, we were off! I didn't remember to reset my odometer until just after the first cache, but I don't think we had walked farther than 3 tenths of a mile. All in all we did about 5 miles and 8 caches. Trevor left a bit early and only joined us for 7 of those.

The distances between caches wasn't terribly lengthy and not too short and we had a couple of real nice views while along the trail. Had a lot of laughs and a lot of fun. All in all a very rewarding experience.

It was a fantastic way to start the day!

so i got the word back that Rocket's blood work is relatively normal. no problems with the kidneys or liver, and that is mostly what they were searching for. white blood cell count was slightly low, but not low enough to warrant a concern. The vet thinks the cell count was low due to a possible infection that the Panacur took care of - now that he's off the medication, we'll see what happens.

more wait and see.

had a GREAT night sleep - I REALLY needed it after this weekend with crap at work and Rocket's problems.

The good news is that Rocket seems to have stabilized, though I don't think that means good things for his insides. No more episodes as of late - he seems to be slightly unsteady at times on his feet, but otherwise everything is still very healthy and normal. Got a vet's visit on Tuesday night and I believe there will be a CT scan in the future.

Today I've got to do some cache logging from a week ago (funny, I still have bruises from one cache!) and do some laundry. Hoping to get out caching with a friend of mine before dinner with 20 other cachers at New Tokyo tonight - We had SUCH a blast the last time we went (though there were only 12 of us then!)

Tomorrow is kayaking with Calvin!

I've been walking down memory lane lately in many many subjects.. One of which is this journal.

I took a moment to look back over the years and saw a lot of joyous, fun posts combined with a lot of serious posts, and have remembered how nice it was to get my thoughts down on 'paper'.

I can be quite lazy at times, and I blame that for the decline of my posts. Maybe I'll be able to get back up on this horse and do a bit more posting.

buuuuuuuut not right now. I gotta get some food before heading out to work. This morning was filled with a little more bunny research, lots of replying to posts & emails, and some cache reviewing.

Rocket has been quietly enjoying the morning as well. Lots of hay munching and just kickin back, bunny loaf style.

Looking forward to work only in regards that this is my Friday. Tomorrow I plan on catching up on my cache logs from Monday/Tuesday and planning my weekend for next weekend.

later!

Hadn't seen this one yet with the Iraq spin on it:

I saw this little 'fact' today:

97.4% of Massachusetts Residents Now Insured!

Health Care Reform has improved the lives of hundreds of thousands of people.

Our uninsured rate is now a remarkable 2.6%, according to a Massachusetts Division of Health Care Finance and Policy study conducted by the Urban Institute.

The U.S. Census has determined that we have the lowest rate of uninsured residents in the nation.

Government, employers, health care providers and citizens have all had a role in achieving this success. Congratulations, Massachusetts!

What that little 'fact' leaves out is that there is a 'healthy' penalty come tax time if you are a MA resident that does NOT have health insurance. The statements above make it sound like the residents of Massachusetts have a choice. Well, we do have a choice, I guess. Either pay for health insurance, or pay a hefty fine come tax time.

Way to be a bully Massachusetts!!!

I never even bothered to read the other three. I just deleted them.
